KRDB / ma modular / SOL: Mid Year Update

Today, more people than ever are looking for affordability, without sacrificing design. Accessible Design has been KRDB’s mantra for the past 10 years. As many of you know, Chris Krager and company offer the following design/build services:
KRDB Custom Homes — fully custom modern and sustainable designs for less than $200 psf
ma modular – green and affordable modern prefab homes starting at $125 (available for delivery throughout the U.S.)
SOL Austin — a community of net-zero capable homes starting at $190,000 (designed by KRDB, built by Beck-Reit + Sons)
Due to the number of projects transitioning from Design to Construction in the third quarter, we’ve hired a full-time construction manager (to be announced) and a new office manager, Kristina Etter! At the same time, after four years of dedicated contribution to KRDB, ma and SOL, one of our designer/project managers, Brad Deal, is moving on to a new position with Ryan Street & Associates. He will be missed! The current design team — Mike Diani and Dan Fields — are keeping busy with the following projects:
KRDB
East Side Inn — A renovation/addition to an East Austin bungalow transforming it from a residence into a 7 room boutique hotel with 2nd floor outdoor private and public courtyards. Contemporary new construction detailing and interiors compliment the preserved exterior shell of the 1925 Craftsman home. Fall finish date.

Brady — A renovation/addition to a 1964 AD Stenger residence nestled between a dense oak canopy in West Lake Hills. The 3 Bed, 3 Bath home includes a home office, garage, carport, panoramic views of the beautiful site and 600 sf of elevated public and private outdoor decks. Winter finish date.

Windsor — A bathroom renovation and garden addition to a handsome Lake Flato residence in Tarrytown. A generous glass shower enclosure blurs the line between indoors and out. The water feature, outdoor shower and fire pit create a serene, everyday retreat.

Kinney — New construction in the 78704 zip code: 3 Beds, 2.5 Baths with 1750 sf of conditioned living space and a 165 sf screened porch.

Wright — New construction down the street from Kinney: a 1400 sf 2 bedroom home + detached garage/studio fitted with a rainwater collection tank for irrigation.

Ruth — 2 bed, 1.5 bath mother-n-law unit in NW Austin scheduled to be completed this month!

Blanco River — 3 bed, 2 bath vacation home in Wimberley, TX . Late summer completion date (rumor has it Blanco River #2 may be going into Design next week ![]()

Village West — 2 bed, 2 bath 1000 sq ft West Austin residence. Late summer completion date.

Fire Island — After several months of planning the delivery route from our partner manufacturing plant in NY across the Great South Bay via barge to Fire Island, our 3 bedroom 2.5 bath summer home has graduated from Basic to Detailed Design!
KRDB + ma modular
Swinging K Ranch — A renovation to an existing house and two 2-bedroom ma modular bunkhouses. Due in part to it’s location on a ranch in Moulton, TX, our clients chose the modular home building process as a refreshing alternative to a long on-site construction process.
